BNESIM is an eSIM provider based in Hong Kong with Italian roots. Besides data packages for more than 180 countries and several regions, BNESIM also offers international phone numbers, calls and other communication services in its app. Its prices are often very low. Our assessment is based on the publicly listed plans, features and user reviews, not on our own hands-on testing.

Plans & pricing

BNESIM sells three kinds of data packages: 30-day packages from 1 to 100 GB, non-expiring packages whose data only runs out once you have used it, and unlimited plans valid for 10 days in selected destinations. Prices are shown in euros. According to the checkout, EU customers paying by card are not charged extra VAT on top.

For many destinations the 30-day packages are among the cheapest in our comparison. For China, 10 GB for 30 days recently cost €5.99, and for Turkey 20 GB for 30 days cost €11.39. Non-expiring packages cost a bit more, but they make sense if you want to keep leftover data for a later trip. According to the provider, the unlimited plans give you 3 GB per day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Hotspot is not allowed on them.

App & setup

You buy on the website or in the BNESIM app, and you need an account to do so. After purchase you get a QR code for installation. You can schedule the start of the validity period for a later date, such as your arrival day. An optional Smart Top-up feature adds data automatically when you are running low. Hotspot is allowed on regular packages but not on unlimited plans.

The app is more than an eSIM shop: it also includes phone numbers from more than 100 countries, pay-per-minute calls, a credit wallet and other services. That is handy if you need these features, but it makes the app more cluttered than those of data-only providers. Our guides for iPhone and Android show how to install an eSIM.

Customer support & reviews

Support is available via chat and tickets on the website and in the app. On Trustpilot, BNESIM scores around 3.7 out of 5 stars, which is weaker than most other providers in our comparison. So it is worth checking recent reviews before you buy, especially about support and refunds. Read the refund terms before you buy and, if possible, test the eSIM before you leave.

Who is it for?

BNESIM suits budget-minded travelers who want as much data as possible for little money in one country, for example China or Turkey. The Global package covering more than 100 countries is also an option for longer multi-country trips. If excellent support and a lean app matter most to you, better-rated providers may suit you better, though you will usually pay more there.

Our verdict

BNESIM is one of the cheapest eSIM providers for many destinations and also offers non-expiring packages and phone numbers. On the downside, user reviews are mixed and the app is overloaded. For budget-minded travelers the provider is worth a look.
